Vapour blasting
Vapour blasting is a process used to gently clean surfaces using water and abrasive blast material under pressure.
The advantage over dry blasting (dry abrasive only) is that it gives a finer finish and the water flushes any sediment or abrasive material from the surface.
Due to the dynamics of the water and the blasting abrasive, vapour blasting leaves a finer finish and creates far less dust contamination.
Vapour blasting is also a lot gentler than dry blasting, so there are also advantages if you want to preserve the material surface.
McNaught Group has an environmentally friendly mobile vapour/dustless sand blaster, so we can:
prepare any surface
remove graffiti without damage to the substrate
strip rust
strip paint from almost any item
leave a smooth undamaged finish.
Why you would use vapour blasting
Vapour blasting has a lower spray pressure and less friction, so is gentler with delicate material.
Dry sandblasting can be an issue in certain situations due to dust contamination – vapour blasting will suppress most of the dust.
Dry sandblasting can create sparks under certain conditions, so vapour blasting is safer around flammable materials.
